Cops nab man with 29 rape charges

A man charged with 29 counts of rape and a string of other cases in different courts in Caloocan City was finally arrested Tuesday.

Inspector Alfredo Acson, Caloocan City police warrant and subpoena section chief, said Maximo Llano, 36, a resident of Bagumbong Dulo, Caloocan City North, is also facing charges for two counts of physical injury, one count of grave threat, and illegal possession of a deadly weapon.

Llano was charged with 29 counts of rape in 2007 for allegedly turning a relative into a sex slave for one month. The suspect disappeared in their area when the police hunted him down.

A few weeks ago, police received reports that Llano was often seen at their house in Bagumbong Dulo.

Superintendent William Macavinta, Caloocan City police chief, directed Acson to form a team to verify the report. After a weeklong surveillance, Acson’s men arrested Llano at his house at around 5 p.m. Tuesday. – Pete Laude
