Traffic enforcer stabbed dead by ex-girlfriend’s son

A traffic enforcer was killed by his ex-girlfriend’s son in Pasay City Sunday night.

Pasay police chief Senior Superintendent Raul Petrasanta said George Estrubigan, 55, was having a drinking session at the house of Randy Burgos, 20, a son of Estrubigan’s former girlfriend, identified only as Nimfa.

Police said when Estrubigan became drunk, he started badmouthing Burgos’ mother, which prompted Burgos to grab a kitchen knife and stab the victim.

Estrubigan was rushed to the Pasay City General Hospital for treatment but died at 3 a.m. yesterday.

Petrasanta said Burgos was arrested in a follow-up operation conducted by police officers in Molino, Cavite.

Police said appropriate charges are being readied against Burgos, who is detained at the police station. – Rhodina Villanueva

Watchman killed over basketball game

A barangay watchman was stabbed dead by three men following a misunderstanding during a basketball game in Pasay City Sunday night.

Senior Police Officer 1 Allan Valdez identified the victim as Ruben Tobojan, 43, a watchman of Barangay 147, Zone 16.

Initial investigation showed that at about 10:30 p.m., a basketball game was going on at a covered court on C. Cruz street when one of the suspects, Joey Aranda, complained that the referee was playing favorites.

However, Tobojan answered back, saying there was no truth to Aranda’s claim.

After the game, Aranda and two companions passed by Tobojan’s house and shouted repeatedly, disturbing residents in the area.

Tobojan went outside and engaged in a fight with Aranda’s group. Aranda stabbed Tobajon twice.

Neighbors rushed the victim to the Pasay City General Hospital where he died while undergoing treatment. The suspects managed to escape. – Rhodina Villanueva
