Cabbie robbed, taxi carjacked in Malabon

-

A jobless man was arrested yesterday after he allegedly robbed a taxi driver and shoved him out of his taxi in Malabon.

Records showed Andrew de Guzman, 27, flagged down Jacinto Baylosis, 48, in front of a police station along Camachile Road at the Caloocan-Quezon City boundary.

Baylosis told police his passenger asked to be driven to Araneta Village in Potrero, Malabon, then directed him to take Industrial Road in Potrero. With a 9-inch knife, De Guzman robbed Baylosis of P1,100 earnings, a P3,000 watch, and a wallet containing P150 and personal documents.

De Guzman shoved Baylosis out of the vehicle, then drove away. Baylosis sought the help of Malabon police officers, who arrested De Guzman after a brief chase and recovered the taxi as well as the money and valuables taken from Baylosis.     – Jerry Botial
