Body parts found in Caloocan, Rizal
A man’s body parts, individually wrapped in blue plastic bags and sealed in five boxes, were found along Quirino Highway in Caloocan City and Don Mariano street extension in Rodriguez, Rizal yesterday morning.
Three of the boxes were found in Rizal and contained a man’s head, torso and left leg. The two boxes found in Caloocan City contained two arms and a right leg.
Police Officer 1 Rustom Ocampo, of the Caloocan City police North Extension Office (NEO), said the boxes were dumped on a grassy portion of Guada Nova Ville on Quirino.
Ocampo said two boys searching for recyclable wastes discovered the chopped body parts at around 6:30 a.m.
“The boxes were still sealed with packing tapes when found, an indication that the crime was done somewhere else and the body parts were just dumped in our area to baffle investigators,” Ocampo said.
He said the portion of Quirino Highway where the boxes were found is a known dumping ground for victims of summary execution.
“Only recently a (man’s) body was also dumped in the area, which is quite isolated and unlighted (at) night,” Ocampo said.
Rodriguez police chief Superintendent Herminio Cantaco said officials of Barangay San Jose told them residents discovered the three boxes at around 8:50 a.m.
Cantaco said the mutilated man was fair-skinned, aged between 39 and 42 years old, and had a “semi-skinhead” haircut.
He said each of the body parts were wrapped in blue plastic bags and sealed in corrugated carton boxes.
Though the police have yet to confirm if all the body parts belonged to the same person, Caloocan city police NEO intelligence and investigation chief Senior Inspector Ronald Perilla confirmed that the body parts found in Caloocan were also wrapped individually in blue plastic bags and put in corrugated carton boxes.
Cantaco said the man’s killer or killers may have killed him somewhere else and dumped his body parts in Caloocan and Rizal.
Rizal provincial police chief Senior Superintendent Ireneo Dordas said the recovered body parts and the boxes have been collected by their crime scene investigators for further examination.
“The investigation is ongoing,” he said.
