Teacher jailed for raping student in Mandaluyong

-

Police arrested a teacher yesterday after a 12-year-old student accused him of raping her in the school restroom when classes resumed this year.

Mandaluyong City police chief Senior Superintendent Carlos de Sagun identified the suspect as Orville Borres, 43, a fifth-grade teacher at the Pleasant Hills Elementary School.

According to Senior Inspector Julieta Espiritu, Women and Children’s Protection Desk chief, the victim said Borres raped her several times since June last year.

The victim told school officials about her alleged ordeal, prompting them to detain Borres and report the incident to the local police.

Espiritu’s team arrested Borres, who chose to remain silent on the charges against him. Police are preparing to charge him with rape in relation to Republic Act 7610, the law against child abuse.    – Non Alquitran
