Cops urged to obey PNP's transformation program
Philippine National Police chief Director General Jesus Verzosa has urged the country’s policemen to be leaders among the people and the community they serve by following his transformation initiative.
With an aim of heightening respectability on the men and women in uniform and restoring the honor that their badge represents, Verzosa called on his men to enhance police services where they matter most. “We shall develop leaders at all levels. And I shall lead these leaders,” said Verzosa.
Verzosa’s transformation initiative with the PNP is anchored on nine plans of actions. These are sustained implementation of the integrated transformation program down to the local level; development and empowerment of leaders at all levels of the PNP; promotion of the value of the PNP badge of honor and fostering of morale and welfare in the police force.
Verzosa said there must be an effective human resource management; enhancement of patrol, investigation and internal security operations; citizen empowerment; promotion of human rights; and partnering with faith-based organizations.
The PNP chief said “the true test of effective leadership is the ability to lead by example and by inspiring others to do the same.”
“With all the trials we have encountered as an institution, we are now seeing the emergence of a new form of leadership – one that takes full responsibility and is not afraid to face any predicament head-on. Against all odds, the PNP remains united, committed and focused more than ever,” he said.
“As we face the challenges that lie ahead, the PNP will continue its dedication to uphold the highest standard of integrity and professionalism and adhere to our sworn duty to serve and protect the community.”
