Caloocan beefs up security for holidays

-

The Caloocan City government has deployed around 350 personnel to augment the local police force in making sure today’s Christmas and the coming New Year’s celebrations would be orderly and peaceful.

Mayor Enrico Echiverri said that 300 personnel from the Reformed Department of Public Safety and Traffic Management (RDPSTM) and 50 medical personnel from the City Health Office have been scattered in different public converging areas to assist the police.

The mayor said that the local police, headed by Superintendent William Macavinta, and the RDPSTM were directed to tighten security on the city’s 12 major malls and department stores, on bus terminals in Monumento and in Second Avenue and on the 19 major churches from Christmas until the New Year.

The police are also preparing for the anniversaries of the New People’s Army and Rizal Day bombing on Dec. 27 and 30, respectively. – Pete Laude
