Sleeping toddler killed in Las Piñas fire

-

A two-year-old boy died after a fire razed a house in Barangay Manuyo Dos in Las Piñas City shortly after noon yesterday.

Senior Inspector Renato Salvador of the Pasay Fire Station chief, identified the victim as Nathaniel Ryan Vicente, whose body was said to be burned beyond recognition.

Initial investigation showed the victim was sleeping at the second floor of the house in Green Valley Subdivision when the fire, caused by an electric fan that overheated, started at around 1:02 p.m.

Vicente’s grandfather and grandmother, who were downstairs, were not able to save him after the fire quickly spread to the other parts of the house.

Salvador estimated the damage to property caused by the fire to have reached P500,000. Arson investigators, led by Senior Fire Officer 4 Roberto Nolan, said they are conducting a follow-up investigation on the incident.
