A motorist was hurt when his car rear-ended a passenger bus along EDSA in Makati City yesterday morning.
Enriquito Matawaran, 40, was rushed to the Ospital ng Makati shortly after rescue workers pulled him out of his silver Toyota Corolla, where he was trapped when his car hit the rear of a BBL bus (NYP-753) at around 10:53 a.m.
Police have yet to determine who was at fault and who will be charged with reckless imprudence resulting in physical injury and damage to property, considering that it was the car that hit the bus driven by Raymundo Montalvo, 36.
Senior Police Officer 2 William Binalla said the larger vehicle was supposedly loading passengers on the southbound lane of EDSA near Ayala Avenue when the accident happened.
The accident caused heavy traffic in the area even after both vehicles were finally removed by Metro Manila Development Authority tow trucks at around 12:40 p.m.
Binalla said a deeper probe of the incident is needed to determine who should be held responsible for the road mishap. He said he has yet to speak with the driver of the car and has only heard the version of the bus driver, who claims it was not his fault.
