Teacher kills 5-year-old son, commits suicide

A teacher, who went to Manila to confirm rumors of her husband’s extramarital affair, poisoned her five-year-old son before committing suicide in a hotel in Quezon City.

The bodies of Ve Cheryl Buhion-Casan, 32, and her five-year-old son, Brylle, were discovered at 12:45 p.m. Wednesday in a hotel in Novaliches.

The boy was on the bed and police believe his mother made him drink an overdose of medicine. Casan was found hanging from the shower with a nylon rope tied around her neck.

Superintendent Marcelino Pedrozo Jr., chief of the Homicide Investigation Section of the Quezon City Police District, said that based on a suicide note left by Casan, the two came from Iligan City and her husband denied them entrance to his house as his mistress was allegedly there.

It was then that Casan and her son checked-in at the hotel Tuesday. The next day, a room boy went to check on them.

When the knocks were unanswered, the hotel management decided to unlock the door and discovered the dead bodies.

Police refused to disclose the name of Casan's husband pending further investigation.
