Employee shoots self to death
A 37-year-old male employee was found dead with a gunshot wound in the head inside his rented room in Paco, Manila Tuesday afternoon.
Homicide section head Chief Inspector Alberto Peco identified the fatality as Redinald Peralta. Police initially established his death as suicide pending autopsy.
Case investigator SPO2 Richard Lumbad said Peralta was discovered dead by his father Antonio, 66, a retired government employee, inside Room 401 of the CSE building located at the corner of President Quirino and Gen. Luna Extension in Paco at around 1:55 p.m. Lumbad said the victim sustained a gunshot wound in the temple, the bullet exiting in the other side of the head. A .38 caliber snub-nose revolver with four bullets and a spent shell was recovered near the victim’s body.
Lumbad quoted Antonio as saying that he left his son alone in the room to seek a doctor’s prescription for the headache his son had been complaining of in the past few days. However, when Antonio returned he found the bloodied body of his son inside the room, Lumbad said.
Meanwhile, a fetus, estimated to be about two months old was discovered by passersby near a drugstore in front of the facade of the Quiapo church in Plaza Miranda yesterday morning.
Police said no one in the area noticed who left a plastic bag containing the fetus. — Nestor Etolle
