STAR printing staff dies in motorcycle accident

An employee of Pilipino STAR Printing Co., Inc. was killed when a motorcycle he was riding and a cargo truck collided along Apacible street corner A. Linao street, Paco, Manila, Thursday afternoon, police said.

SPO3 Mario Jorge, traffic investigator and officer-on-case, identified the victim as Jechris Cepe, 29, who died after three hours, while being treated at the Philippine General Hospital in Manila.

Jorge said the truck driver Reynaldo Gobres, 39, of Bertese, Quezon, Nueva Ecija immediately surrendered to authorities. He was locked-up at the Manila District Traffic Enforcement Unit in Port Area, Intramuros, Manila.

Investigator said Gobres was charged with reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and damage to property.

Probers told The STAR, at around 4:30 p.m. the victim on board a motorcycle Honda XRM (4354-MC) and on his way to the work located at Port Area he met the accident. Several witnesses told the investigator, that the motorcycle and trailer truck (TWD-124/PVP-877) owned by Well cargo customs brokerage was traveling toward Apacible street, upon reaching a certain block, both vehicles collided. Due to the strong impact of collision the motorcycle fell off the road and rammed the cargo truck.

Probers said the truck had just come from Sta. Rosa, Laguna while the victim came from his house in Paco when the accident happened.

An unidentified bystander immediately brought the victim to the nearest hospital while the truck driver with his helper escaped at the crime scene, however, after an hour, the driver surrendered.
