Geisler files raps vs DOJ

-

Actor Baron Geisler yesterday retaliated at prosecutors of the Department of Justice who recommended the filing of acts of lasciviousness charges against him and hauled them to the Office of the Ombudsman for alleged graft.

Accompanied by Bonifacio Alentajan, Geisler personally went to the anti-graft office and filed his complaint against Chief State Prosecutor Jovencito Zuño, Assistant Chief State Prosecutor Miguel Gudio, and State Prosecutor Amanda Felipe.

Alentajan told reporters that the three prosecutors “abused” their authority and violated the provisions of R.A. 3019 (Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act) when they decided to pursue the criminal case against his client.

He argued that prosecutors erred when they decided to recommended the filing of acts of lasciviousness charges against his client since the DOJ has no power to recommed the filing of cases to a lower court.

Geisler’s case stemmed from a bar incident in April, where he allegedly invited the daughter of celebrities William Martinez and Yayo Aguila for sex and made lewd advances on her.

The lawyer said no element of forced threat or intimidation could be established, given that the bar, where the incident happened, was reportedly packed at the time.

The DOJ prosecutors, however, said that Geisler be charged with acts of lasciviousness before the Makati Regional Trial Court in a 14-page recommendation issued earlier this week.

The DOJ had also dismissed the three counter-charges hurled by Geisler against the victim, her mother and family friend.     – Edu Punay
