Student falls to death from condo unit

- Reinir Padua -

A seventh-grade student at La Salle Greenhills was found dead yesterday after he was believed to have fallen 14 floors from his family’s 18th-floor condominium unit in Quezon City.

The body of Justine Figueroa, 13, was discovered at the fourth-floor garden area of the Lafayette-3 building in Barangay Bagumbayan.

Security personnel Rolly Rosales found the boy’s body lying face down at around 5 a.m. yesterday. According to Police Officer 3 Joseph Diño, Figueroa’s head was “bashed” in and he had broken arms and legs.

“During ocular investigation in the victim’s room, one of the glass windows was fully open and the victim probably fell from his room on the 18th floor to the fourth floor garden area of the condominium (building),” Diño said in a report, adding that the boy was last seen alive in his room Monday night.

At around 8 p.m. Monday, the boy requested housemaid Irene Fronda to buy him ice cream. According to the victim’s mother, the boy had a fever that night.

Superintendent Franklin Moises Mabanag, chief of the Quezon City Police District-Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit, said they do not see any foul play involved in the death.
