13 hurt as car rolls over on EDSA

Thirteen people were hurt after an Asian utility vehicle lost one of its wheels and overturned along Edsa yesterday morning.

A report from the Quezon City Police District-Traffic Sector 6 stated the accident happened after the left rear wheel of a Toyota Tamaraw FX driven by Eleno Pinera, 38, suddenly came loose in front of the central bus terminal near Trinoma mall at around 6:40 a.m.

Apart from Pinera, those who sustained injuries are passengers Lolita Templonueo, 67; Paul James, 9, John Derick, 12, and Arlyn, 16, all surnamed Piano; Mary Rose, 16, and Imelda, 43, both surnamed Luaton; Gilbert,11, Engelbert, 16, and Emmalyn, 17, all surnamed Pinera; Maria Basijan, 68; and Ronnie Antipasada, 11.

The wheel that came loose hit an approaching motorcycle, injuring driver Dionides Arenas, 29.

Traffic enforcer Vicente Marasigan said the injured people were brought to the East Avenue Medical Center for treatment.

Marasigan advised motorists to regularly check their vehicles before going on a trip. – Reinir Padua
