2 drug suspects caught in Pasay

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) has arrested two alleged members of the Banatao drug syndicate operating in Pasay City, officials said yesterday.

PDEA-Metro Manila agents arrested Jonathan Ruiz and Gigi Centeno, alias Gigi Banatao in Barangay Tramo last Nov. 5 after two months of surveillance.

Ruiz was arrested in his house on Muñoz street. PDEA agents seized three grams of methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu from him.

After nearly two hours, another team of PDEA agents arrested Centeno at the same address. She was caught carrying three grams of shabu in two sachets.

Anti-narcotics agents, however, failed to arrest Jose Banatao, alias Joey Negro, the alleged leader of the drug syndicate.

Ruiz and Centeno have been charged with possession of dangerous drugs.   – Edu Punay
