Couple face raps for selling porn films

Criminal charges were filed yesterday before the Manila Regional Trial Court (RTC) against a couple who allegedly sold pornographic digital video discs (DVDs) at the 168 shopping mall in Binondo, Manila.

Jackson and Weny Ang were charged with violating Article 201 (immoral doctrines, obscene publications and exhibitions and indecent shows) of the Revised Penal Code, as amended by Presidential Decree 969 (selling pornographic materials). Bail was set at P24,000 for each of them.

Manila policemen raided the Angs’ store at the mall and their warehouse in Silangan building on Sto. Cristo street in Binondo last May 6. The two were not present during the raid, wherein authorities seized a total of 209 pirated pornographic DVDs, 705 pirated DVDs, and five boxes of fake DVDs. – Sandy Araneta
