A man killed his ex-girlfriend’s live-in partner at past midnight yesterday after she spurned him when he tried to woo her back.
Eddie Miras, 32, was arrested at 10 a.m. yesterday when he asked his former girlfriend, Arne Casabon, to meet him at a park in Quezon City hours after he stabbed dead Wilson Lopez, 34.
“He (Miras) sent me a text message and asked where I was and if I was alone. He wanted me to meet with him at the Quezon Memorial Circle. He didn’t know that I was already with the police,” Casabon said.
Casabon said she and Lopez have a child and had been together for almost eight years. She said she ended her affair with Miras when she met Lopez.
“But he (Miras) wouldn’t let me go and would still send me text messages,” she said.
According to case investigator Senior Police Officer 1 Mario Turiano, the incident happened just outside the house occupied by Casabon and Lopez on Banlat Road in Barangay Tandang Sora at around 1 a.m. yesterday.
Miras showed up at the house, asking Casabon if they could get back together. Moments later, Lopez arrived from work and saw Miras, a sight that irritated him, according to Turiano. He left the house to buy beer at a nearby store.
When he returned, Miras was waiting for him outside his house. According to Casabon, Miras stabbed Lopez and ran away as the victim fell. Lopez died at 2:30 a.m. yesterday while undergoing treatment at the Quezon City General Hospital. – Reinir Padua
