Baby killed in Las Piñas fire

-

An 11-month-old baby died after a fire gutted a house in Las Piñas City last Friday night. Arson investigators identified the victim as Jean Villa.

Senior Fire Officer 4 Noel Consignado of the Las Piñas Fire Department said the fire broke out around 6:50 p.m. in the house at BF Martinville, Phase 5, Barangay Manuyo 5.

House owner Liza Villa, mother of the victim, told investigators she left her child inside the house and asked relatives who are also their neighbors to look after the baby before she went out of the house.

Probers said when Villa returned, her house was already burning, it was too late to rescue her baby.

The fire was put out after 30 minutes but the house, which was made of wood and light materials was totally gutted.

Initial investigation said a lighted candle that was left unattended could have caused the fire.

Consignado said, they are still conducting a follow-up investigation to determine the origin of the blaze. – Rhodina Villanueva
