QC warns 'hot meat' traders to follow the law

-

Quezon City Mayor Feliciano Belmonte Jr. has warned traders of “double-dead” meat to voluntarily stop their illegal operation for the sake of the public “before the full force of the law could befell on you.”

Belmonte issued the warning even as he ordered an intensified drive against contaminated meat following reports that personnel from the city’s Market Development and Administration Department (MDAD) have confiscated more than 5,000 kilos of double-dead meat in 10 raids on the open space located between the Cloverleaf and MC markets in Balintawak.

MDAD head Neil Lina said they failed to file charges against the owner of the land since there is no strong evidence linking him to the illegal operation.
