DPWH spent P9.1 M to patch Metro potholes

-

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) said yesterday that it spent P9.1 million of its funds to repair potholes on 147 road segments in Metro Manila.

In a statement, DPWH-National Capital Region (NCR) regional director Robert Lala said they undertook road repair works after they discovered potholes caused by storms that hit the metropolis since mid-May.

He told DPWH Secretary Hermogenes Ebdane that during the week, he dispatched maintenance crew to restore the asphalt in the affected roads.

Among the major thoroughfares that were already repaired are Roxas Boulevard, Quezon Avenue, Taft Avenue, Osmeña Highway, Bonifacio Drive and Quirino Avenue.

The DPWH-NCR is also coordinating with the Metro Manila Development Authority over drainage declogging operations in Metro Manila to prevent flooding during the rainy season.

Lala ordered district engineers to review all the scheduled road improvement works in Metro Manila and include the installation of drainage facilities in the schedule.  – Evelyn Macairan
