Health workers protest DBM salary hike proposal

Health workers will stage a rally today to get congressmen to reject a resolution proposed by the Department of Budget and Management (DBM), which they said will cause them to lose more than P3,000 in monthly benefits.

Emma Manuel, head of the Alliance of Health Workers (AHW), said Joint Resolution 26, which will supposedly increase the basic salary of health workers from P6,000 to P8,000 over four years, “will make life harder for us.”

She said the resolution would replace the salary standardization provision in the Magna Carta of Health Workers, which provides them with other incentives such as hazard pay, longevity and subsistence allowance.
