Such findings were revealed during a free medical treatment held at the MPD headquarters Tuesday. The medical mission was sponsored by MPD director Chief Superintendent Roberto Rosales for policemen and their dependents to promote healthy living. Mediamen were also invited to join.

“No one can tell if he is suffering from diabetes unless his blood sugar level is determined,” said Superintendent Nap Cauyan, who developed a “wonder tea” that can reportedly lower blood sugar level and is initially given free to patients. Most of the patients were diagnosed as suffering from pre-diabetes.

Pre-diabetes is a condition in which blood glucose levels are higher than normal but not the type of diabetes which is usually insulin resistance.

SPO3 Ed Martinez, from 240 down to 130, SPO3 Edison Bertoldo, 180 down to 120, Rene Maliwat of dzRJ, 201 down to 130, and Rene Crisostomo of Bulgar from 160 down to 130 an hour after drinking the wonder tea.

“We are very thankful to Gen. Rosales and Col. Cauyan for looking after our health. We are happy that there is now a more cheaper maintenance cost for our ailment,” said the treated policemen.

The five reporters were also assured of free “wonder tea” by Cauyan. “This is my way of assisting members of the media who are also afflicted with the delibitating disease,” Cauyan told The STAR.

The patients were also advised to eat foods that have less salt and fat and to stop smoking.
