Airman found dead in quarters

An officer of the Philippine Air Force (PAF) was found dead in his quarters at the Villamor Air Base in Pasay City yesterday morning.

The police said Col. Miguel Guialogo’s body was discovered around 9:30 a.m. in his room on the second floor of the base’s housing facility.

Pasay police chief Senior Superintendent Marietto Valerio said Guialogo, 54, even participated in a physical fitness test at the Protacio Park within the base around 6 a.m. and was driven back to his quarters. Driver Arturo Banayat Jr. said Gialogo complained he was not feeling well while they were on the way back to his room.

Initial investigation showed that a PAF doctor determined that Guialogo died of a heart attack.

Southern Police District Director Chief Superintendent Luizo Ticman said a thorough investigation of the case will have to be made before they can finally rule out foul play in Guialogo’s death.

Guialogo, a veteran pilot who saw action in Mindanao during his younger years, headed the Armed Forces Research and Development Center of the San Fernando Air Base. The physical fitness test he undertook was necessary as he was reportedly up for promotion to brigadier general. – Rhodina Villanueva, James Mananghaya
