Baby stuffed in cooking pot
The Makati City police are investigating the death of a newborn baby found stuffed in a cooking pot hidden under the sink at a house in Barangay Pitogo early yesterday morning.
Investigators have yet to determine if the child was aborted or not, pending results of an autopsy.
“We need to see if the delivery was induced or forced,” Makati City police chief Senior Superintendent Gilbert Cruz, told The Star.
Based on an initial report, he said the mother, whose identity is being withheld, told a household helper to inform her husband that she feels like she was about to give birth.
When her husband arrived at around 10 p.m. Monday, he saw his wife bleeding and rushed her to the Ospital ng Makati.
At around 2 a.m., the household helper allegedly discovered the baby in a cooking pot under the sink. The pot was hidden under a pile of dirty clothes, prompting her to seek the help of Bantay Bayan volunteers.
“The details are still sketchy. We are investigating,” Cruz said noting that if the child was indeed aborted, charges will be filed against those responsible. – Michael Punongbayan
