Bank manager robbed of P.6 M
A bank manager is in critical condition at the San Juan de Dios Hospital after armed suspects attacked him and robbed him of P600,000 in Pasay City yesterday morning.
Investigators said that at around 9:45 a.m., Apolinar Ayos encashed a check worth P600,000 at a bank along Roxas Boulevard in Pasay City.
Ayos reportedly placed the money in a black paper bag and walked towards the nearby Rural Bank of Baclaran along the East Service Road, where he works as officer-in-charge.
When Ayos approached the Diplomat Building, three men accosted him and asked for the money while pointing a .45 caliber revolver at him.
Pasay police chief Senior Superintendent Marietto Valerio said Ayos resisted, prompting the suspects to shoot him in the right temple and neck. Bystanders rushed Ayos to the hospital while the suspects boarded a motorcycle and fled.
Valerio said a manhunt has been launched against the suspects. – Rhodina Villanueva
