Two steel firms in Valenzuela City were robbed by at least 10 men wearing military fatigues and black SWAT shirts armed with assault rifles with grenade launchers Tuesday night.
Chief Inspector Danilo Bugay, Station Investigation and Detective Management Bureau (SIDMB) chief, identified the companies as the Mayer Steel Corp. (MSC) and its sister company, Continental Steel Manufacturing Corp., both in Barangay Lingunan.
Bugay told The STAR that the suspects ran off with some P300,000 in cash taken from two vaults forcibly opened by the suspects.
The two firms however are still doing an inventory of valuables to determine if the robbers had taken more.
Initial investigation showed that the suspects divested some 30 employees of the two companies of their cash and belongings. Also lost was a laptop computer, an LCD monitor and a Sony digicam.
The service firearms of the security men, including a shotgun and caliber .45 were taken.
