QC cop kills brod in Tondo

-

A Quezon City policeman is now being hunted by the Manila police for allegedly killing his younger brother outside their residence in Tondo Sunday night.

Witnesses said Police Officer 2 Auremerto Amurao, 42, detailed at Talipapa sub-station of Quezon City Police Station 3, shot his brother Joel, 39, with his service firearm following an altercation that started inside their house and ended on the street along Road 3 in Manotoc Subdivision, Gagalangin, Tondo.

Joel was declared dead on arrival at the Jose Reyes Memorial Medical Center due to a lone gunshot wound in the chest. Amurao escaped after the shooting, bringing with him his service firearm.

Investigation conducted by SPO2 Virgo Villareal showed Amurao arrived at their house at around 10 p.m. and flared up when he saw the victim lying in bed. The victim got angry when he heard Amurao ask if he was still alive.

The two then figured in a heated argument until both of them stepped out of the house. Once outside, witnesses said the policeman pulled out a gun and shot his brother.

Records obtained from Superintendent Gerardo Ratuita, chief of the QC Police Station 3, showed Amurao had incurred 32 absences without official leave since April 19. Amurao is also facing investigation for being AWOL, as contained in a memorandum from Ratuita dated May 27.

Villareal gathered from the Amurao siblings that the two brothers have been at odds since childhood. However, the siblings refused to state the reason for their brothers’ quarrel, according to Villareal.   – Nestor Etolle
