Cops rearrest recently freed detainee

A man, who had just been released from prison five days ago, was re-arrested yesterday by the police for allegedly killing a teenager during a mauling incident in Quezon City.

Witnesses have identified Adam Baruelo, 25, as the suspect who stabbed dead Mar Padecio, 17, who was mauled in Lupang Pangako, Barangay Payatas.

“I have yet to enjoy my freedom,” said Baruelo who is now detained at the jail of the Quezon City Police District Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit.

Baruelo was released from the Quezon City Jail last Aug. 8 after being acquitted of frustrated murder charges.

Police investigators said Padecio and several of his friends were talking near a barber shop at around 2 a.m. when Baruelo and his seven companions arrived and immediately accosted the victim. Padecio’s companions ran away when the suspects started beating the victim.

Witnesses said while the others suspects were holding the Padecio, Baruelo allegedly stabbed the victim in the chest.

The suspects fled and even left behind knife that was still stuck in Padecio’s chest.

Padecio’s returned and brought the victim to the East Avenue Medical Center where he died.

Operatives of the QCPD-Station 6 conducted a follow-up operation and re-arrested Baruelo, while the seven other suspects have not been arrested.

Baruelo denied the allegations and said he was not in the area when the incident happened.
