Chinese caught with fake passport at NAIA

Immigration officers arrested an 18-year-old Chinese woman at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) for presenting a tampered Japanese passport.

Ferdinand Sampol, NAIA immigration operations chief, said Xiang Lin of Xiamen, China was bound for Vancouver, Canada when she and Japanese businessman Tatsuo Unno, 45, were invited for questioning at the NAIA’s immigration office.

Unno denied he was assisting Lin’s illegal departure for Vancouver, insisting that he is only a businessman bound for Canada to buy Ipods for his business.

Unno was sent back to Japan Friday while Lin was deported back to Xiamen yesterday. Both of them have been included in the Bureau of Immigration’s blacklist. – Rudy Santos
