Manhunt on vs cop who shot dead 48-year-old man

-

The Manila Police District has launched a manhunt against an alleged policeman who shot dead a 48-year-old man in Pandacan, Manila on Saturday night to avenge the shooting of a relative of the lawman’s companion.

The MPD identified the victim as Ferdinand Javier, married, jobless, of 1803 Int. 26 Kahilum St., Pandacan, Manila. He died while on his way to the Ospital ng Maynila due to a bullet wound in the body.

MPD operatives are hunting Police Officer 2 Manuel Garcia, alias “Noel Pulis,” between 38 and 39 years old, reportedly detailed at the National Capital Regional Police Office (NCRPO) at Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig City, and a certain Chokoy, an accomplice.

Detective Joseph Kabigting, of the MPD-homicide section, said the incident occurred around 6 p.m. at the corner of Apitong Street, Riverside, Pandacan, Manila.

Prior to the incident, Javier was inside the house when he received a text message supposedly coming from the suspect, asking him to go to Apitong Street. Javier went to the place where the suspect shot him. Chokoy served as a lookout.

Kabigting, together with Barangay Chairman Perfecto Botin, went to the house of the suspect but he was not in the house. The MPD policeman talked to Garcia’s father, Alfredo Garcia, who assured him that he would talk to his son.

Police said there were reports that Chokoy and the victim had a misunderstanding that led to the shooting of Chokoy’s mother. Chokoy sought the help of Garcia who is said to be his relative, to have revenge on the shooting of his mother. – Sandy Araneta
