A 30-minute fire broke out in one of the buildings of the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM) shortly before noon yesterday.
No one was reported injured in the fire that damaged the building, which was being used as a stockroom, at the PLM compound at the corner of Gen. Luna and Victoria streets in Intramuros, said arson investigator SFO2 Rodelio Nelvis.
A parking attendant said he initially smelled what he thought was burning wire just before smoke and flames came out of the one-story semi-concrete structure.
The fire started at around 11:17 a.m. Probers placed the damage to property at P500,000. Nelvis said the cause of the fire is still being investigated. – Nestor Etolle
