Manila cops to file raps vs woman in ‘baby-throwing’ case

- Sandy Araneta -

The Manila Police District (MPD) is planning to file charges against a tenant of the condominium who allegedly tried to interfere with the investigation made by the police on the death of a baby who was thrown from the building in Binondo, Manila last June 17.

According to Superintendent Nelson Yabut, chief of MPD-Station 11, they plan to file obstruction of justice and slander charges against Mary Chua Chiaco, 26, a resident of Room 1902 at the Goldrich Mansion building.

Yabut said Chiaco tried to interfere and stop the police officers and DNA experts from conducting a luminol test at the condominium to find out where traces of blood could be found and know where the crime started.

Chiaco questioned the investigation made by the MPD at the condominium as she tried to demand a search warrant.

Yabut said they wondered why she was interfering in the investigation since they were not testing her unit for bloodstains.

The MPD the other day has reportedly shown partial results from their investigation, revealing that blood was found on a towel discovered at the bathroom of Room 1004.

Chiaco was invited for questioning by the MPD-Station 11. She was accompanied by her lawyer, Jackson Lee.
