Caloocan cops close in on robbers

-

Police are closing in on the two suspects who robbed a businessman who withdrew cash from a Caloocan City bank last Tuesday.

Superintendent William Macavinta, Caloocan City police chief, said yesterday that investigation conducted by his men, in coordination with the Banco de Oro management, had “very positive” results.

Macavinta, however, refused to elaborate claiming that divulging more information, especially to the media, might jeopardize their operation.

At around noon last Tuesday, Domingo Ang, 38, of Samson Road, Caloocan City, withdrew P750,000 from the BDO branch along 8th Avenue in Caloocan City.

Ang, aboard a car, was blocked by two motorcycle-riding men while turning at the corner of 9th Avenue and D. Aquino Street.

At gunpoint, the suspect at the back ride of the motorcycle, ordered Ang to hand him the bag containing the money.

“The victim’s moves were monitored even while inside the bank and the suspects knew that he still have some cash in his pocket,” Macavinta said.

After divesting Ang of the cash and the bag, which also contained his licensed .9 mm pistol, the suspects immediately fled. - Pete Laude
