2 men killed by drinking buddies

Two men were killed in separate drinking bouts after they got into an argument with their drinking buddies in Manila Friday night.

The police said the first incident happened at around 10:45 p.m. at a basketball court on Domingo Santiago street in Sampaloc, where a group of men were observed drinking.

Moments later, Danilo Pagsinohin, 33, a cook, was overheard having an argument with his buddies, who then took turns beating him up. He died while undergoing treatment at the Ospital ng Sampaloc.

The police are hunting down a certain “Bengbeng Estal,” who was identified by witnesses as the leader of the group.

Meanwhile in Binondo, Manuel Uy, 37, a helper, was drinking with several men beside the Expo building along Lara street when he figured in an argument with a certain “Alex.” After a while Alex reportedly left but returned, armed with a knife, which he used to repeatedly stab Uy.

His friends rushed Uy to the Gat Andres Bonifacio Medical Center, where he was declared dead on arrival. The suspect escaped and is the subject of a police manhunt.

The police said troubles usually erupt among drinking buddies when they start arguing over petty matters due to intoxication.   Nestor Etolle
