The Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) has denied a news story regarding the alleged dismissal from service of senior assistant general manager Oscar Paras Jr. and Florencio Montalbo, assistant general manager of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3.
In a May 31 letter to The STAR, MIAA assistant general manager for airport development and corporate affairs Tirso Serrano said the report of the dismissal of the two officials for “allegedly engaging in questionable practices” is “grossly unfounded and there is no truth at all to such (a) claim.”
Serrano cited a May 29 memorandum issued by MIAA general manager Alfonso Cusi, who said Paras and Montalbo are on official leave of absence and are due to report back for work next week.
Cusi urged all MIAA employees to “refrain from falling prey to attempts which are intended to cause alarm, disunity and dysfunction in the MIAA organization.”
The MIAA has announced that the NAIA-3 will be operated temporarily as a domestic facility while needed repairs are being undertaken.
