Thousands join global walk vs hunger

Some 3,000 people hoping to encourage others to help feed hungry children all over the world participated in a 30-minute walk at the Bonifacio Global City in Taguig yesterday morning.

Actress KC Concepcion, who is the United Nations (UN) ambassador for its World Food Program (WFP), led the activity, which seeks to raise public awareness on the problem of malnutrition.

Similar events with the theme “End Hunger, Walk the World,” were simultaneously held in other parts of the globe.

Concepcion has been going around the country – particularly in Mindanao – to help feed hungry children. She called on others to also reach out to the poor.

Meanwhile, WFP country director Valerie Guarneri said  the Senate will give P2 million from its priority development fund for the WFP’s school feeding program in Mindanao.
