QC cops vow more patrols after shootout

-

The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) has vowed intensified patrol operations along Commonwealth Avenue after a robbery suspect was killed in a shootout Wednesday night.

Superintendent Alex Sintin, chief of the QCPD’s District Police Intelligence Operating Unit, said policemen have been conducting a stakeout in the area to address robberies and snatchings along the thoroughfare.

Daniel Castillo Amahan was killed in a gunbattle with policemen after he and his cohorts attempted to snatch a woman’s bag at the corner of Commonwealth and Luzon Avenues. Amahan’s two companions escaped.

In an earlier report, Sintin’s name was erroneously mentioned as that of the slain suspect. According to Sintin, Amahan’s group was behind a series of robberies along Commonwealth Avenue.

Earlier this week, Sintin’s team killed two suspected robbers in a shootout at the corner of Scout Torillo and Scout Fuentebella Roads.

The shootout occurred after the motorcycle-riding suspects opened fire at the lawmen who tried to accost them because their motorcycle did not have license plates.  – Reinir Padua
