NCRPO opens ‘peace’ zones

-

The National Capital Region Police Office launched yesterday the discipline zone project in at least 12 barangays where peace and order will be strictly maintained in Valenzuela City.

“The project is a strict no-nonsense enforcement of existing laws and ordinances wherein the police are the lead implementing authorities,” said Marither Menia, spokesman of Valenzuela Mayor Sherwin Gatchalian.

Aside from the launching of discipline zones, a memorandum of agreement was signed by NCRPO chief Director Geary Barias, Northern Police District director Chief Superintendent Pedro Tango, Valenzuela City police chief Senior Superintendent Ranier Idio, the 12 barangay chairmen, city officials, traffic officers, and local transport groups.

Declared discipline zones were Barangays Arkong Bato, Palasan, Polo, Poblacion, Pariancillo Villa, Balangkas, Wawang Polo, Isla, Bisig, Tagalag, Mabolo and Coloong.

“We are hoping that this concerted effort would succeed,” Menia said.  – Pete Laude
