Taguig to give cops better equipment

-

The Taguig City government is set to procure communication equipment that will help enhance the local police’s quick response system.

Taguig Police chief Superintendent Alfred Sotto Corpus said close circuit television or CCTV cameras will soon be installed at major intersections with high crime incidence to enable a 24-hour monitoring of the areas.

Earlier, Mayor Sigfrido Tiñga turned over six brand new Ford Rangers to the Taguig Mobile Patrol Group so the TMPG can better patrol the city’s 18 barangays.

Tiñga said they are giving the local police officers tools to help them in their fight against crime and lawlessness.

He also issued a stern warning against those who caught stealing public property after the city’s night patrol nearly captured several individuals trying to steal steel lampposts along the C-5 Road recently.

Last year, the joint efforts of TMPG and the Taguig City police resulted in a 26-percent decrease in crime and a 97-percent crime solution efficiency in the city.

Corpus said the Tiñga administration has been consistent in showing solid support in their campaign against criminality by providing key assistance to police and security operations.   – Rhodina Villanueva
