Fake car parts seized from auto shop

-

At least 209 pieces of various fake Mitsubishi automobile parts worth P200,000 were seized by agents of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) during a raid on an automobile supply shop in Quezon City.

According to a complaint by Mitsubishi Motors, the Lani and May Auto Supply shop, located on Quirino Highway in Novaliches, allegedly sold fake auto parts by misrepresenting them as “Mitsubishi products.”

The NBI conducted surveillance and test buys, found there was a basis in the complaint, and set up an operation to raid the shop. The agents were armed with search warrants issued by Judge Reynaldo Ros, of the Manila Regional Trial Court Branch 33.

The establishment is facing charges for violation of Republic Act 8293 or the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines.    – Sandy Araneta
