PNP pushes drive vs erring cops
A total of 13 policemen from the Manila Police District while four more policemen from the Quezon City Police District were suspended as part of the unrelenting campaign of the Philippine National Police to rid the organization of erring policemen.
The PNP has been waging its campaign against unscrupulous policemen as part of the Integrated Transformation Program (ITP) designed to professionalize the police force and bring the police closer to the people. The ITP is being implemented by the Police Management Office (PMO), which is headed by Deputy Director General Jesus Verzosa, the PNP deputy chief for administration.
Metro Manila Police chief Director Geary Barias placed the 13 MPD policemen on floating status pending further investigation.
“The relief and suspension of these policemen signifies his commitment to implement in full swing the PNP’s LOI Patnubay that provides the guidelines in streamlining the PNP organization of misfits and scalawags,” Barias said. Barias, however, did not disclose the specific violation of the suspended policemen.
The chief of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) identified the 13 MPD policemen as PInsp. Mario Matibag, SP01 Rolando Beaquin, SPO1 Jamalito dela Cruz, PO3 Marianito Ruedas, PO3 Ferdinand Coloma, PO3 Hilario Gregorio, PO2 Bienvenido Cinco, PO2 Arlan Alba, PO2 Eligio Valencia, PO2 Eustaquio Catchin, PO1 Dennis Bernabe, PO1 Christopher Lajom and PO1 Emard Orallo.
Barias also approved the suspension of four members of the QCPD Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit while pre-charge investigations of their cases remain pending at the summary hearing officers. Barias named the QCPD cops as SPO1 Danilo Pading, PO2 Raul Tinana, PO1 Romualdo Bacani and PO1 Darlito Pinzon. He likewise directed the district director to confiscate the firearms of the four cops.
To date, 137 policemen in NCRPO have been charged with grave misconduct since the PNP began its crackdown against erring policemen.
Barias said the campaign against cops in Metro Manila who are reportedly involved in various illegal activities will continue until the NCRPO has been cleansed of erring policemen.
