Cops to QC funhouses: Expect more raids
The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) warned owners of entertainment establishments in the city yesterday that they will conduct more raids to make sure the funhouses are not staging lewd shows or being used as fronts for prostitutions.
“You (may) expect more raids next week to be conducted by us,” Superintendent Antonio Yarra, chief of the general investigation section of the QCPD’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit, told The STAR in an interview.
He said they raid entertainment establishments reported to be staging lewd shows or employing minors as entertainers. The owners of these bars will be charged for violating Republic Act 9208 or the anti-human trafficking law.
“We will pursue these owners and cases will be filed against them even if they were not arrested as they were not present during the raid,” he said. Yarra said another raid was conducted by a QCPD-CIDU team led by Chief Inspector Cherry Lou Donato on the Flirt bar in Cubao Friday night. Police apprehended 22 female entertainers, all of whom did not have working permits, as well as 10 employees.
