‘Caloocan teachers’ allowances released’

-

Caloocan City Mayor Enrico Echiverri clarified yesterday that the augmentation allowance of 5,000 public school teachers in the city have been released, contrary to earlier reports.

He said the delay in the release of the allowances for the teachers lies with their respective schools, “which process the payroll slowly” so the documents do not reach the city government in time.

Echiverri noted that the city government has no pending payrolls for teachers and the latest of which, for the month of January, have been paid in full.

Assistant City Treasurer Evie Garma said that once their office receives from the city school division office “their payrolls for the months of February and March, we will immediately release the necessary funds.”

Echiverri had called on education officials to investigate the causes of delay in the processing of school payrolls and take the necessary measures to avoid them.

He noted that the city government has raised the teachers’ “augmentation allowance from P1,000 to P1,500 as early as July last year and they were able to receive them in full.”
