2 killed, 2 hurt in Pasig crash

- Non Alquitran -

Two women were killed when their car went out of control just as they were approaching the C-5 flyover in Pasig City early yesterday, ramming a delivery van and injuring its two occupants.

Reports reaching Eastern Police District (EPD) director Chief Superintendent Leon Nilo de la Cruz identified the victims as Abigael Parong, 22, of Northview, Batasan Hills, Quezon City and Kristine Marie Orbeta, 23, an employee.

De la Cruz said Parong was driving a Mitsubishi Lancer (UGW-828) on the C-5 Road’s southbound lane in Barangay Ilog when she lost control at about 6:30 a.m. The Lancer veered to the left, hitting a big plant pot at the center island before sliding into the northbound lane.

The Lancer hit a Fuzo Canter van (XJP-834) driven by Josefino Macas, 44, of Barangay Bagbag, Novaliches, Quezon City.

Because of the impact, Parong was pinned behind the wheel and died on the spot. Responding barangay officials were able to retrieve Orbeta’s body and rushed her to the Rizal Medical Center, where she was declared dead on arrival.

Macas and his companion, Elmer Belardo, sustained injuries and are being treated at the same hospital.

De la Cruz has ordered an investigation of the incident.
