A security guard of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) is now in critical condition after his colleague shot him following a heated argument yesterday morning in Pasay City.
The victim, Marcelino Roda, 30, of Bayang Luma, Imus Cavite, sustained a lone gunshot wound in the left portion of his chest. He is still under observation at the Manila Sanitarium Hospital.
Police Officer 2 Alberto Barangas Jr., case investigator, said the suspect — Ronie Diaz, 27, a native of Barangay Sagasa, Bago City, Negros Occidental and resident of 712 P. Paterno street, Caridad, Cavite City, immediately escaped after the incident.
Initial investigation showed that around 7:50 a.m., the victim and the suspect were engaged in a conversation in front of the OWWA office located at F.B. Harrison corner 7th streets.
Barangas said the suspect took a break and when he returned, saw the victim assisting a girl who earlier asked help from Diaz. Diaz reportedly got angry upon seeing Roda and the girl talking. He called the victim and after a heated argument, drew his service firearm and shot Roda.
The police said they already launched a manhunt against the suspect who fled on board a taxi. – Rhodina Villanueva
