QCPD cop, motorist swap raps over traffic row

-

A road altercation between a man and a Quezon City Police District (QCPD) officer led to an exchange of charges between the two yesterday morning.

While Alvin Siano filed a complaint of serious physical injury against Superintendent Tomas Nuñez, officer-in-charge of the QCPD-District Mobile Force, the police official intends to file charges of direct assault and grave threat against him.

Siano claimed that Nuñez waved and pointed a gun at him and even handcuffed him, as he showed handcuff marks on his wrists. Nuñez denied his allegations.

The altercation happened at 9:45 a.m. while Siano was on his way out of Richland Subdivision in Barangay Bagbag in Novaliches, Quezon City to have his car washed.

Nuñez was then just about to enter the nearby Sto. Niño Village, where he lives.

Siano said he could not move his Mitsubishi Adventure because Nuñez blocked his path with a pick-up truck. Nuñez said he did not block Siano’s vehicle and that he was on his way home.

This resulted in a confrontation between the two. At the height of the confrontation, Siano allegedly picked up a rock and tried to hit the police officer.

But according to Siano, Nuñez went back to his vehicle to get a pistol, which he allegedly pointed at Siano.

A roving mobile unit of the QCPD Station 4 spotted the two men and brought them to the Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit for questioning. – Reinir Padua
