Anti-GMA rallyist  shot dead

- Jerry Botial, Pete Laude -

A 47-year-old carpenter who just arrived home after attending the interfaith rally in Makati was shot dead by four men looking for his brother Friday night in Malabon City.

Rodolfo Flores, a resident of Phase 2, Area 3, Bgy. Longos in Malabon City, sustained three bullet wounds in the body and was declared dead on arrival at the Tondo General Hospital.

Suspects Jun Azarcon aka Jun Santos and two John Does, who were neighbors of the victim, are still at large.

According to reports, Flores and his wife Nelly Barredo-Flores, 63, had just arrived at around 10 p.m. after attending the interfaith rally in Makati and was entering the gate when the suspects followed them.

The suspects then asked for the whereabouts of his younger brother Victor, who unknown to Rodolfo had figured in a fisticuff with Azarcon earlier. He replied his brother could already be sleeping.

Angered by this reply, Azarcon reportedly drew a .45 caliber pistol and fired at Flores, who was hit three times in the body.

The suspects quickly fled after seeing Flores slump to the ground.

The gunshots caught the attention of Rodolfo’s brothers including Victor, who then chased the suspects.

Azarcon however fired more shots at their direction forcing them to take cover allowing the group to escape.

Rodolfo was taken by his wife to the Tondo Medical Center where he was declared dead on arrival.
