2 killed in stabbing incidents in Valenzuela

-

A dump truck driver was stabbed dead by his helper during a heated argument Friday night in Valenzuela City.

Police identified the victim as Joel Malanum, 47, a resident of NFA Compound, Barangay Malanday also in Valenzuela City.

SPO2 Angeles Miranda, of the Valenzuela City police investigation unit, said the incident occurred at around 8 p.m. inside the NFA motor pool compound.

The victim was with suspect Ramil Jumawan and helper Mencio Miray at the back of their dump truck preparing dinner when he and the suspect engaged in a verbal tussle.

At the height of the argument Miray left to urinate but returned just in time to see the two engaged in a scuffle.

Failing to pacify the two, Miray sought the assistance of another driver, Romeo Atazar, who was sleeping on another truck.

Miray returned with Atazar only to find out that Malanum was already lying dead on the pavement due to multiple stab wounds.

Jumawan escaped after the incident. The police later recovered a bloodstained knife under the victim’s dump truck.

Another stabbing incident occurred in Barangay Canumay at around 10:15 p.m. resulting in the death of a certain Barry Malicdem.

Malicdem, 20, was buying at a sari-sari store with a friend Danilo Sonivio when three men on board a tricycle arrived.

Without apparent reason, one of the men punched Malicdem in the nape. The victim tried to flee to avoid more harm but was cornered by the suspects.

One of the suspects stabbed the victim and killed him in the process.

The suspects escaped on board their tricycle after the incident.

Valenzuela City police chief Senior Superintendent Ranier Idio ordered his men to hunt down and arrest the suspects in both incidents. – Pete Laude
