100 illegally parked trucks rounded up in QC

-

The Quezon City government has rounded up 100 trucks illegally parked on the city’s sidewalks as part of a campaign against motorists using sidewalks as parking areas, damaging newly constructed sidewalks in various parts of the city.

Manuel Sabalza, chief of the Department of Public Order and Safety (DPOS) said the vehicles were impounded or had their plates confiscated.

Sabalza said the renewed campaign is based on Mayor Feliciano Belmonte Jr.’s directive to clear city streets of vehicles with heavy equipment, such as trucks, which destroy sidewalks where they are parked.

He said city officials are monitoring factories whose trucks are parked outside their compound, as well as bus firms whose vehicles are parked along main roads.     – Perseus Echeminada
